Manufacturing Day at Community College of Rhode Island

The Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) will host a Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 3 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Knight Campus, 400 East Avenue, Warwick RI.  This is a one stop opportunity to:
  • Meet the faculty
  • Tour CCRI's new state-of-the-art-labs
  • Learn where CCRI is going in manufacturing training
  • Learn about Rhode Island's CNC apprenticeship program
  • Find out how continuous credentials can lead to an associate degree
  • Hear from a graduate about how CCRI's manufacturing program changed his life.

Welcome to Nipmuc: New Student Breakfast

The Nipmuc Peer Leadership group is a group of student leaders dedicated to promoting positive culture within the Nipmuc Community.  Yesterday, during student breaks, the group hosted its annual New Student Breakfast.  New transfer students to Nipmuc were invited to attend during their morning break and were encouraged to bring a friend.  Over 20 new students joined us for good food and good fun!

Savannah College of Art and Design Info Session



Attend a SCAD Information Session


Learn more about how your students can transform their passion into a creative career at the world's most comprehensive art and design university - Attend a SCAD Information Session.

At noon, students can attend a preview workshop led by a SCAD professor. At 2 p.m., participants will learn more about SCAD's innovative academic programs, distinctive locations, and art and design career options during a general admission presentation. They also can participate in a Q-and-A session with admission representatives or meet representatives one-on-one. Register to attend.

Wendy's High School Heisman Program

 The Wendy's High School Heisman Program recognizes high school seniors who succeed in the classroom, on the playing field and in their communities.  Students can earn up to $10,000 for their high school, as well as gift cards and major personal recognition.  The deadline to apply is October 3, 2014.

Breakfast with Guidance Workshops - 2014 School Year



The Nipmuc Guidance Department will be offering a series of morning workshops throughout the school year entitled Breakfast with Guidance.  These workshops are designed to offer an opportunity for Guidance Staff and parents to come together to discuss a number of Guidance related topics including academic concerns as well as social-emotional issues.  During the upcoming year, each Breakfast with Guidance workshop will be geared towards parents of different developmental ages at Nipmuc.  Please see schedule listed below.  All workshop attendees are asked to contact Ona Moore (omoore@mursd.org; 508-529-2140) at the Nipmuc Guidance Office by the Friday before the scheduled workshop. Space is limited so please RSVP early! Thank you and we look forward to seeing you!

September 16, 2014 - High School 101 – Strategies for Success – Freshmen Parent Breakfast

Discuss tips and strategies to support your child’s successful transition to Nipmuc High School. Discuss the social-emotional, as well as the academic demands of the 14-15 year old student and have an opportunity to connect with other parents and Guidance staff about parenting triumphs and challenges!
Parents of ninth graders are encouraged to attend!

December 2, 2014 – The In-Between Years – Sophomore Parent Breakfast
8:00-9:00 AM
By sophomore year, students are no longer new to high school, but they have not yet achieved the position as Upperclassmen.  Many are on the cusp of increased independence as they start to drive, explore work opportunities and continue to participate in sports and other extracurricular activities. Join us as we discuss these and other pertinent topics related to 15-16 year old adolescents and feel free to bring questions of your own to share.

February 3, 2015 – Beginning the College Search Process – Junior Parent Breakfast
A guide to post-secondary planning for parents of juniors. Please join the Nipmuc High School Guidance Staff for an introduction to the College Application Process.  

May 5, 2015 – Leaving the Nest…Senior Parent Breakfast
As a teenager graduates from high school and leaves for college, parents can feel numerous different emotions related to this and the upcoming transition to college or the workforce. Please join the Nipmuc Guidance Staff for a discussion about changing family dynamics and the social emotional impact of this transition.
